“Liberty Shuts It Down: Road Closures to Solve All of Life’s Problems (Eventually)”

LIBERTY, MO — July 9, 2025

Brace yourselves, Liberty residents — your summer plans for smooth commuting have just been heroically derailed by the latest chapter in Missouri's epic infrastructure saga. Yes, that’s right. Not one, but two road closures have been launched with the bold mission to “make improvements” — someday.

First up: the North Church Road and Camille Street intersection has been sacrificed on the altar of pipe replacement. A massive 54-inch corrugated metal pipe (because clearly size matters) and two lesser 36-inch pipes are being swapped out in a pipe-laying extravaganza that promises to stretch until at least August 15. That’s six glorious weeks of “progress” and detours.

But wait — there’s more! The northbound outside lane of Missouri 291 from Kansas to Stewart is also closed. Why? To let the city’s chosen contractor go on an exciting archaeological dig for utility lines and possibly buried treasure. Who knows?

All this is part of Liberty’s ambitious “Let’s Fix Stuff Mid-Summer” campaign, featuring a new traffic signal at Blue Jay Drive, a median at Stewart to stop dangerous left turns and ADA sidewalk upgrades that are surely worth every ounce of traffic rage.

So take a deep breath, Liberty. These improvements will one day be worth it. Let’s circle back in 2026.
