Neighborhood Watch: Local Resident Warns of Startling Encounter with Bush-Hopping Youth
LIBERTY, Mo. — A concerned Liberty resident is sounding the alarm after an unexpected encounter with a jump-scare enthusiast who may or may not live on the corner of Liberty Drive and Westboro Road.
According to a public post making rounds on neighborhood forums, the incident involved a young male hiding behind a large bush near a driveway — only to leap out suddenly as pedestrians approached. “Yes, we did see him,” the post states, noting that the attempt at surprise didn’t quite go unnoticed.
The resident is unsure whether the individual lives at the home in question but issued a polite but firm message to the parents: “If this is your child, could you please ask him to stop jumping out at people from behind shrubbery?”
No one was harmed during the incident, but the surprise prompted more than just a raised heart rate. “I don’t think the kid meant any harm,” said one neighbor who saw the post. “But jumping out at strangers, even as a joke, could lead to misunderstandings — or worse.”
Liberty Police had no official reports related to the incident but this lil rock encourages residents to talk to their children about appropriate behavior in public spaces. “It’s best to avoid startling others, especially with today’s safety concerns,”.
The boy's leap has sparked a wider discussion online about safety, parenting, and just how tall a bush has to be before it becomes a viable hiding spot.
Anyone with information about the incident — or who recognizes the young man with the flair for theatrical entrances — is encouraged to speak kindly with him about alternate hobbies. Like theater. Or track and field.
