LIBERTY — Construction on the Liberty Police Department expansion begins Friday, bringing a permanent closure of Missouri Street south of Kansas Street and reduced parking near Liberty City Hall.
McCownGordon Construction will install fencing around the project site, including roughly half of the City Hall parking lot. Parking is expected to remain limited throughout construction.
The utility payment drop box has been moved to the northeast corner of Kansas and Missouri streets. All City Hall visitors must use the Kansas Street entrance. City Hall will remain open during normal business hours, and most services are available online.
The police department is temporarily operating from 1908 Plumbers Way, Suite 400 during the renovation.
Nearby businesses are urging visitors to avoid parking in private lots as downtown spaces become tighter during the project.
